Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015)

Directed by Francis Lawrence

This movie should've been called Hunger Games: Speeches.

Mockingjay - Part 2 picks up where the previous film left off... obviously... Katniss is recovering after brainwashed Peeta tried to kill her, but there's still a war to fight. She helps on the frontlines but, after being shot and still being controlled by President Coin, comes to her own conclusion that she must kill President Snow. To that end, she sneaks back to the frontlines to assassinate Snow. Gale, Finnick, and others come together as a newly formed squad to make promotional material on the battlefield but, after setting off a trap, the squadron follows Katniss' lead in an assassination attempt. As the war draws to an end Katniss is left to sift through each president's lies to find the truth.

Mockingjay - Part 2 sets a blistering pace while also lingering endlessly on every dramatic line or pause. Yet, for all it's desperate drama and calls to action it never reaches a crescendo. Sure, there's a climax, but there's no satisfying moment of triumph, regardless of what the music would have you think. All of the drama and wind-up is left to fizzle out.
